 FUN FRIDAY FOLD #3

Having my computer in for repairs for over two weeks caused me to postpone the Fun Friday Fold cards for a couple weeks.  During these past days, I've been working on getting all my business and personal emails and photos and documents onto the new hard drive. That process taught me a few things.  One, backup everything at least once a month.  Two, keep up with your passwords.  And three, if you store them on your phone, be careful.  Murphy's Law happens when you least expect it.  Your phone may go on the blitz just when your computer goes down. So, write your passwords somewhere and update them often.

So, I'm glad to be here with this post for the first Fun Friday Fold in September.

For this card you will need three (3) pieces 12 x 12 inches of coordinating DSP (one primarily Real Red and one primarily Mossy Meadow), one sheet each of Real Red and of Whisper White cardstock, glue, bone folder, paper cutter with scoring or scoring board, Christmas sentiments of your choice, and bling. The Designer Series Paper (DSP) used in this sample is "Warm Hugs" (153492) from the Mini Holiday Catalog 2020.

Begin by using Real Red cardstock and create the standard card base of 5 1/2 by 8 1/2 inches.  Score along long edge at 2 1/8 inches and 6 3/8 inches. Fold on score lines so the sides meet in center of main part of the card.

Cut the whisper white cardstock into 4 panels each being 5 3/8 x 2 inches.   Cut four (4) DSP panels -- two from Real Red DSP and two from Mossy Meadow DSP.  Each DSP panel is cut 5 1/4 by 1 7/8 inches.  Glue each DSP panel to a whisper white cardstock panel.  You will have four matted panels.

Glue two Mossy Meadow panels on the right side of the card (front and back) and two Real Red panels on the left side of card (front and back).

Cut one piece of coordinating DSP 5 1/2 x 4 1/4 inches and one piece of whisper white cardstock to size 5 1/4 by 4 inches.

Glue the white cardstock on top of lined DSP paper.  NOTE:  This is opposite from the side panels where the DSP is glued on top of the white cardstock.  Refer to picture shown below.

Fold the side panels into the center.   They will meet in center.  This will create a traditional fold card which usually has a belly band to hold it closed.  Continue to the next step below to complete this card.

Next, cut two Whisper White pieces for front of card 2 3/8 by 4 inches.  Cut one Real Red cardstock piece 2 1/4 by 3 7/8 inches and one lined DSP piece  2 1/4 by 3 7/8 inches. Glue striped piece on one Whisper White piece and glue the Read Red piece on the other Whisper White cardstock.  On the front of the card, glue the striped piece to the left panel being careful to only glue the left half of the striped paper.  Glue the Real Red piece on the right side panel being careful to only glue on the right side.  Folding the two pieces like a Dutch Door will hold the card closed.

This will allow for the top and bottom to open in opposite directions as shown below.

Using Real Red ink stamp sentiment on inside of card.

Using Real R ed ink, stamp "Merry Christmas" from the "Cherish the Season" stampset on Whisper White piece measuring 3 by 1 1/4 inches. Glue stamped piece on Real Red mat.  Add three red "Wonderful Gems" (153536) under the words.

Fold card so that it remains closed.

This style of card is so versatile.   Based on the DSP you choose, this card could be used for birthdays, congratulations, masculine cards, etc.

Happy Labor Day Weekend.  Enjoy the summer weather, fall and the holidays are only a few weeks away.

And as always...Keep creating treasures!

 FRIDAY FUN FOLDS

Today we'll look at Fun Fold #2.  This fold makes a fun card because it appears to be a normal card, until you open it.  The front is attached to the back by way of a folded hinge.  This card would be great to use with card fronts you may have in your stash or even post cards.  It could even be used as a pop-up card.  All this variety, yet it's very easy to make.

For the main card you will need two pieces of cardstock and liquid glue. My cardstock is from Stampin' Up. The card front can be decorated in many ways.  Below I will describe what I used to make this card.

First cut two pieces of cardstock which will form your front and back.  Cut each of them at 4 1/4 inches  by 5 1/2 inches (the usual A2 card size). My example uses Bumble Bee (yellow) cardstock.

Next cut the piece that will be on the inside (the folded area and where you'll place your sentiment).  My example uses Whisper White.  This piece is cut 4 inches by 10 1/2 inches.  Crease this piece at 5 1/4 inches and at 2 5/8 inches.  See photo below.

Next,  using one of the Bumble Bee pieces of cardstock, place the shorter end of the Whisper White piece along the edge of the Bumble Bee piece. Glue in place.

Turn the card over so that the large Whisper White piece is down and the Bumble Bee front side is on top. In the picture below the front is to the left with glued folded piece attached.  Take the second Bumble Bee piece and glue it to the large Whisper White piece.  You will have something similar to a book with the two Bumble Bee pieces on the outside and the Whisper White folded pieces on the inside.

Close the card and decorate the front as you choose.  I used the stamp set Free As A Bird          (found on page 85 of the Stampin' Up 2020-2021 Annual Catalog) . I colored the stamped area using various Stampin' Up blends.

Using the sentiments that were included in the stamp set, I stamped the saying inside of the card and the "Hello" on the outside. I attached the stamped and colored card front to a piece of Cherry Cobbler.  And then attached that to the Bumble Bee front.

(HINT:  Be sure you attach the piece to the correct side.  Otherwise, the hinge will be backwards....don't ask how I know this! LOL)

Hope you like this fun fold and I'd love to see the ones you've made.  Please post them to share with me and others.  Thanks!

PS:  I originally started this post on Friday but had issues moving the pictures.  Frustrated, it took me until Saturday to get it posted.  Friday was "one of those days" that nothing went according to plan.  "Man or woman plan and God laughs."
