Using the Old and New

When you sit down at your crafting table, do you already have something in mind that you want to create?  Is it a special card to be sent to a friend or family member? Or did you just gets home photos printed and want to scrapbook them? Is it because you recently purchased new supplies and want to PLAY?  Or is it you want to just create something new?

When I sit down, it's usually to create something specific.  I'm a crafter who creates with a plan.  I start with a specific plan (maybe even drawn out on paper) and begin to gather my tools and supplies. What often happens is that I cannot find the saying or stamp that I want to use and before I know it, I've created something totally different than what I planned.  I usually created a mess of my crafting space when I'm done.  Is this you or are you more organized?

When I'm working on something specific, I often discover new projects that i'd like to make in the future.  I jot those ideas down and try to create them while using some of my stash.  In that way, if they don't turn out, I don't mind throwing the attempt in the "round file".

Recently, a few crafters and I missed seeing each other each month due to the virus and wanted to socialize.  As we all like to paper craft, I started organizing Zoom meetings and suggested we all make cards with one specific theme each month.  So far we've used flower punches and dies (not stamps) to create a card.  Then we created a monochromatic card.  And then, 11 cards using the One Sheet Wonder guidelines.  This month we are to create 3 cards using one inch strips of paper.  One card has the strips run vertically; another one with the strips horizontally; and a third with the strips diagonally.

Using the the DSP from the Painted Poppies Suite, I created the background and fussy cut the poppy which was added on the bottom left corner.  Words from Peaceful Moments stamp set found in the Annual Catalog for 2020 - 2021, page 19.

Using the DSP from Butterfly Wishes Suite (discontinued in May 2020), I created the background paper and fussy cut the butterflies.
