 FRIDAY FUN FOLD #4

This Fancy Fold card is really simple to create, yet it looks very complicated.  I appreciate Stampin' Up Demonstrator, Jackie Bolhuis, for showing how this card can be created.  You can easily make two cards at the same time, which is always a plus.  In this sample, I made the two cards very similar.  However, you can easily make a Thank You card and a Birthday card (or whatever combination you desire) by merely changing the DSP.

Start with a standard 8 1/2 X 11 inch piece of cardstock.  In this sample, I used Early Expresso.   Cut the cardstock by placing the point of one corner of the cardstock on the cutting edge at the top of your cutter and the diagonal corner on the cutting edge at the bottom of your cutter.  To make it fit, you may need to remove the scorer blade from your Trimmer/cutter.  This cut will create two identical triangle pieces.  Below is a picture of one piece of the cut cardstock.

Score each diagonal piece at 5 1/2 inches on the long side and 4 1/4 on the short side.  Fold top corner piece down along shorter side so point meets the bottom right.  Flip card over and fold triangle on right side left toward other long horizontal side. Fold sides so they meet as shown in the picture below.

By folding each side along score lines, you will create a rectangular piece inside that measures 5 1/2 X 4 1/4 inches.

Now fold the second large triangle which was formed when you cut the cardstock diagonally in half.  This creates the second of two fold card bases.

To finish the first card, select two pieces of Designer Series Paper (DSP) that coordinate with the card base. In this sample, Guilded Autumn DSP was used.  Cut the DSP into two pieces of 5 1/4 X 4 inches.  Cut these two DSP pieces into rectangles, just as you cut the cardstock (corner to corner) so you have two triangles of each of the different DSP. of a total of four (4) DSP triangles.  In the sample below, note the two triangle DSP pieces used on opposite sides to create the two fancy fold cards.

The card is made of two triangles covered with the Guilded Autumn DSP.  One triangle is covered with leaves and acorns and the other triangle is covered with brass embossed DSP.

Cut a piece of coordinating cardstock for the inside in the size of 4 X 5 1/4 inches.  The sample has Mint Macaroom cardstock matted by Very Vanilla cardstock which measures 3 3/4 X 5 inches.  Finish the outside using various embellishments.

This sample was finished using two ovals cut using the Layered Oval dies. The Very Vanilla oval was stamped using the verse from the Beautiful Autumn stamp set.  That oval is popped up with Dimensionals.   The ovals are glued to the front.  Be careful to only glue a portion of the cardstock as it is placed on one side of the triangle.  This allows for the card to be opened.  Using Faux Suede Trim, a bow was added to the oval.  Then using the punches from the Autumn Punch pack, punch various small leaves and acorns (matching the DSP) and add them to the oval.

On the inside, add some punches leaves and acorns to decorate the bottom corner of the Whisper White cardstock piece which was matted on the Mint Macaroon cardstock.  Note how the triangle pieces lay flat and extend from the left side and downward.

The additional triangle card base is decorated with the same DSP and die cut ovals.  However, Faux Suede Trim is not added.  Punched leaves and acorns were place between the Mint Macaroon oval and the Very Vanilla oval.  The inside of the second card was left blank.

This sample was created using the Beautiful Autumn Bundle (155189) from the Holiday Mini catalog on page 46.  Other items such as the cardstock, Layer Oval Dies, and the Faux Suede Trim are shown in the 20020 -2021 Annual Catalog.

I hope you enjoy making these Fancy Fold cards.  I'd love to see your creations....expecially if you used different cardstock and DSP.  Keep creating and SHARE!
